America nowadays is a land of upheavals: The fraying of our social, economic, and healthcare systems during a global pandemic, a racial justice reckoning, climate anxiety, and ever-expanding political division, all while being told that it is “time to get back to work.” That work includes lower wages, longer hours, and grueling conditions, all for the patronizing title “essential worker.” Where do we go from here?

In There Is Nothing For You Here, historian, policymaker and former National Security Council official, Fiona Hill, discusses how declining opportunities in America have set us on a dangerous course. She draws on her personal journey out of poverty and offers suggestions on how we can return hope to our forgotten places.

On November 9th, join FOLCS for a virtual conversation on the forces dividing America, creating greater access to opportunity, and how we can empower future generations with Fiona Hill and Dan Osborn, the President of BCTGM Local 50G who is leading the union strike against Kellogg.

Our New Ticketing Policy:

It’s been 20 months since the pandemic shut down our in-person, ticketed events, forcing FOLCS (a non-profit entity) to go 100% virtual and to operate without any revenue from ticket sales. Nevertheless, during this time we have produced 41 events - - all free of charge, open to the public and available to view on our website.

To help defray our costs, we have adopted a modest $5 ticket price for this and future events. 100% of your purchase will go toward our event expenses, including hosting platform subscriptions, promotion and paying our team who put these events together. Your ticket purchase will allow us to continue to program smart, witty and culturally important programs, which promote newly released films, books and music, support independent filmmakers, authors, musicians and other artists through our FOLCS Conversation and FOLCS Film Series. We've also brought you a new Virtual Film Club with special guests including Sharon Stone, Alan Zweibel and Mark Fuerestein to discuss culturally significant films that we believe are essential viewing.

We thank you for your support!
